Blackcap on Magnolia Print by renowned wildlife artist Ian Griffiths. This incredibly detailed painting has been reproduced as a 5 " square print presented in an 8" mount ready for framing.
Using his unique style and perception of wildlife Ian Griffiths has captured the delicate colours of this little bird. This female Blackcap is perched amongst the soft pink flowers of a magnolia tree.
The Blackcap is a small greyish bird with a distinctive warble. The male has a black cap, and the female a chestnut one. Its delightful song has earned it the name 'northern nightingale'. Although it is primarily a summer visitor from northern Europe they are increasingly spending their winters in the UK too. Mainly found in woodlands, or gardens with plenty of shrubs, their diet is insects and berries.
